Ricz's recent paintings are based on the concept of contrast. The contrasts of figurative and abstract, damaged and sterile, visible and hidden provide the essence of the works.

He aims to create harmonious compositions by using contrary sub-elements. This contrast is characteristic of his color scale as well. Nearly monochrome shades are juxtaposed with sharp, bright coloured details. The homogeneous and mostly dark backgrounds give the feeling of a permanent timeless space.

The artist creates layered collages that serve as the base to his oil paintings. This way he is able to mix different painting styles, old photographs, magazine cut-outs and personal memory fragments in order to build up his imagery.

Ricz's works are often permeated by a specific mood which is rooted in the post-communist Eastern European culture where he comes from.
